EnglishPiedmont has always occupied the top places in the best-chef rankings: this is due to a tradition that appreciates quality, an excellent variety of local products and an environment that encourages experimentation and growth.
The outstanding Piedmontese chefs are masters of their art, open to innovation and creativity, and whether they are Piedmontese by origin or adoption, their cooking constantly reveals the close bond with the places where they live and work. Each year the Michelin guide lists the top chefs, who are recognised as the absolute best at an international level and become ambassadors of fine Italian cuisine throughout the world: there are 37 Piedmontese “star chefs” in the 2012 edition, representing the food and wine tradition that is our main ambassador to the world and one of the most outstanding aspects of the Piedmont tourism offer. White truffles, chocolate and fine wines are the cornerstones of a mouth-watering and absorbing virtual representation that immerses tourists in an ideal journey through the Langhe hills, the area of the lakes and the historic coffee bars of Turin, the provincial capital, following a new concept of food as a universal language to communicate the local culture and lifestyle. This is also the main theme of the initiative that brought some great star chefs to the Royal Savoy residences, combining fine cuisine with historical and architectural heritage: the enchantment of traditional palace banquets is brought back to life in the Royal Palace of Venaria, Pollenzo Castle, Govone Castle and Rivoli Castle, in whose refined atmospheres the glorious Piedmontese culinary tradition, accompanied by the great local wines, is creatively reinterpreted in a contemporary style.
